Covina : Is Tux His Ticket to Oscars?

Once again, ultimate gate-crasher Bill Hayer says, he used his tux and moxie to get into the Academy Awards on Monday. But the Oscar guards think not.

“(It) was a very glorious night, indeed,” Hayer gushed about Monday night’s ceremonies.

The 38-year-old Covina resident said he has pictures, programs and autographs to prove that he once again outwitted security. He won’t say how he did it.

“It’s basically just in your attitude, how you carry yourself,” the Cal Poly Pomona student said.

John Pavlik, a spokesman for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, said it is unlikely that anyone could have bluffed his way past security. Pavlik said he was wearing a red all-access pass and was questioned by security officers at three separate checkpoints.

Hayer has photos and programs of Oscars past as evidence of his skills crashing the event. This time, he said, he obtained an autograph when he met big winner Clint Eastwood: “I told him he definitely should win with his track record.”
