A 26-year-old man was shot and killed while using a public phone booth in North Hills, police said Wednesday.
Steven Gamble of Canoga Park was shot in the upper torso in the booth at the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Parthenia Street about 10 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Lt. Kyle Jackson said.
Police have no motive for the shooting and have not recovered a weapon, Jackson said. Investigators are looking into the possibility that the shooting was gang-related because the location is a “known area for gang violence and narcotics sales,” he said.
Gamble was approached by the assailant on foot, Jackson said, and officers are unsure if the pair had an argument. The man then shot Gamble, jumped into a blue car and drove off, he said.
