CANYON COUNTRY : Glue Gun Possible Cause of House Fire

Fire swept through a two-story house in Canyon Country on Friday afternoon, causing more than $400,000 in damage, authorities said.
The house in the 19800 block of Terri Drive was completely charred after the 1:05 p.m. blaze, which apparently started in a garage, Los Angeles County firefighters said. A glue gun may have ignited the fire, officials said.
The blaze caused $200,000 in damage to the structure and destroyed $250,000 in contents, county fire dispatcher Art Marrujo said. Content damages were unusually high because the house contained materials used in a business, he said.
Fire investigators said equipment in the garage was used to make molded figurines. The Fire Department’s hazardous materials team responded to the scene when firefighters found six drums containing 75 gallons of polyurethane, a material used in casting the sculptures, Marrujo said.
The residents must hire a waste removal company to dispose of the chemical, officials said.
