Two former Cincinnati Bengal players denied charges by a woman who contends she was gang raped in a hotel in 1990.
The denials were from Ickey Woods, who has left pro football, and Eric Thomas, who recently signed with the New York Jets.
Woods testified about his telephone conversations with the woman. Those conversations led to her accepting $30,000 from a group of players and signing a document releasing them from liability.
Woods said he helped work out the arrangement even though the allegations were untrue because he did not want his family hurt and “so she couldn’t come back and put us through basically what we’re going through right now.”
Closing arguments in the case were scheduled today.
