Jamir Miller and Bruce Walker were suspended indefinitely by the UCLA football team after they were arrested Thursday night for alleged possession of stolen property, the school announced.

Miller, a junior outside linebacker from El Cerrito, Calif., and Walker, a senior defensive lineman from Dominguez High in Compton, were starters last season.

The arrest was the second for each in the last three months.

Miller, 19, and Walker, 20, were arrested in separate incidents in January for allegedly carrying concealed weapons--Miller in Torrance and Walker in Beverly Hills.

The Torrance city prosecutor agreed to dismiss a misdemeanor gun-possession charge against Miller as long as the player stayed out of trouble for one year.

The judge in the matter approved the prosecutor’s plan and set a hearing date of April 5, 1994, for Miller. The judge said the case would be dismissed as long as Miller was not charged with another misdemeanor or felony before the hearing.

Walker was sentenced in Beverly Hills Municipal Court to 35 hours of community service and fined $405 after pleading no contest to a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace.

Also, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office said the two misdemeanor weapons charges would be dropped if Walker had no more arrests in two years.

On Thursday at about 7:45 p.m., Miller and Walker were arrested at their apartment in West Los Angeles after police served a search warrant, said Alan Cueba, assistant chief of the campus police.

“We can’t really say how we got the information, but through our investigation we determined that there was stolen property in the residence and we got the search warrant and went in and found it,” Cueba said.

Investigators found about $13,000 worth of stereo and computer equipment allegedly stolen from UCLA dormitories, Cueba said. About $2,000 worth of reported stolen equipment is still missing, he said.

A third resident of the apartment was not arrested, but the investigation is continuing, Cueba said.

Felony charges are expected to be filed against Miller and Walker next week. Arraignment was set for May 14 at West Los Angeles Municipal Court.

After spending the night at the West Hollywood sheriff’s station, Miller and Walker were released on $10,000 bond, Cueba said.

Miller led UCLA in sacks for the second consecutive season last fall. Walker, a two-year starter, was an honorable mention All-Pacific 10 Conference selection.
