ROUNDUP : Quartz Hill’s Coleman Tames Highland, 19-16

Share

Highland High’s baseball team was looking for its first Golden League victory Friday, but Quartz Hill’s Freddy Coleman simply would not allow it.

After Highland claimed a one-run lead in the fourth inning, Coleman, the Rebels’ fourth relief pitcher, limited the host Bulldogs to two hits the rest of the way and guided Quartz Hill to a wild-and-wacky 19-16 victory.

Coleman (3-1), who also paced the Rebels offensively with two doubles, a home run, four runs and four runs batted in, took over in the fourth with nobody out and runners at second and third. The senior right-hander shut down the Bulldogs, who led, 16-15, when he made his appearance.
