BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : DODGERS

Darryl Strawberry was scratched from the lineup Tuesday night because of a stiff lower back. Strawberry said it was caused by the five-hour plane flight from Los Angeles to Montreal on Monday.
“I tried to get loose today, but I couldn’t get loose at all,” he said.
Dodger trainer Bill Buhler said that this happened once before to Strawberry, after the flight to Los Angeles from Vero Beach for the Freeway Series. “But he was able to loosen it up then and he played,” Buhler said. “This is just some stiffness. We’ll see how it is (today).”
This is the first time since Strawberry had come back from his back surgery in September that he has not played because of his back problem.
“I never heard anything about his back,” Lasorda said. “Now, tonight I find out it has stiffened up.”
