Concluding a monthlong investigation, narcotic officers from three law enforcement agencies seized $60,000 worth of heroin and cocaine at residences in Oxnard and El Rio Wednesday and made five arrests.

During the investigation, conducted jointly by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the Oxnard and Santa Paula police departments, officers discovered a link in drug operations at the two residences, said Sgt. Arnie Aviles of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.

The first search warrant was served about 10:30 a.m. at a home in the 600 block of Orange Drive in El Rio, where officers found about 4 ounces of tar heroin and 41 packets of heroin and cocaine packaged for sale, Aviles said. Jose Isabel Hernandez, 22, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing the drugs for sale.
