Share

Burbank has dipped into redevelopment money to fund its drive to build a light rail line from Union Station to Burbank Airport.

The City Council Tuesday voted to spend $30,000 as its share of the $80,000 cost for a consultant who will draw up a campaign to secure funding for a $445-million light rail line from Burbank through Glendale and Los Angeles.

The proposed 11.9-mile rail project is one of nine projects competing for funding from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Burbank officials expect only one of the projects will be funded in the next decade.
