COSTA MESA : Transient Arrested in Fatal Stabbing
A man identified as a transient has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing another transient to death last fall at Talbert Regional Park, police said Thursday.
Scott Anthony Stetler, 33, was arrested at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday in Whittier as he was washing windows at a business complex, Costa Mesa Police Sgt. Mike Millington said.
Investigators believe that Stetler killed Robert Allen Harder, 45, last November, Millington said.
A passerby found Harder’s body with multiple stab wounds in a brushy area at the north end of the park, at 1299 Victoria St. The murder weapon was never found. At the time, police asked anyone with information about the killing to call them.
“We continued the investigation and developed probable cause to pick up Stetler,” Millington said. “We’ve been looking for him, and we found him.”
Millington declined to say why Stetler is a suspect.
