Ducks Hire Ex-King Fenton as Scout
The Mighty Ducks have hired Paul Fenton, a former King, to the team’s scouting staff, General Manager Jack Ferreira announced Thursday.
Fenton, 33, played eight seasons in the NHL with Hartford, the New York Rangers, the Kings, Winnipeg, Toronto, Calgary and San Jose, retiring in 1992. He scored 43 points for the Kings during the 1987-88 season.
As the team’s pro scout, he will cover the NHL as well as the American and International leagues.
“Throughout his playing career, Paul was a student of the game and displayed tremendous work ethic,” Ferreira said. “These qualities will enhance his ability to be a great scout.”
Fenton is the third scout set to join the Ducks. Al Godfrey was hired from the NHL Central Scouting Bureau to be the Ducks’ Midwest regional scout, and the team has an agreement to hire New York Rangers scout Dave McNab after the June drafts. McNab’s title hasn’t been determined, but it is expected to be along the lines of player personnel director.
