OXNARD : March Organized in Memory of Chavez
A march and street celebration dedicated to labor organizer Cesar Chavez is scheduled for noon today at his one-time home in Oxnard’s La Colonia neighborhood, organizers said.
The house is located near Colonia Road and Garfield Avenue.
Participants have been asked to bring a flower and the flag of the United Farm Workers union, which Chavez directed from 1965 until his death last week.
The march will end at the Inlakech Cultural Center, 644 South C St. in Oxnard. Afterward, organizers will hold a street party.
