Undercover Pasadena police and suspected gang members exchanged gunshots in a park near the Rose Bowl on Sunday evening after more than 200 people who police said are associated with the Bloods gang gathered in the park.

“We had a couple of undercover officers down there just to see what it was about,” Lt. Gene Gray said of the incident in Brookside Park.

“One of the people pulled a gun, started shooting at other individuals. Our officers identified themselves, ordered them to stop, (and) the guns were turned on them.

“Officers returned fire. Fire was coming from several directions,” Gray said.

Three people, none of them police officers, were wounded. None of the wounds were life-threatening. One man was arrested, Gray said.
