Robin Yount, with only two previous trips to the disabled list in two decades with the Milwaukee Brewers, underwent arthroscopic surgery for torn cartilage in his right knee.

Yount, 37, hurt his knee last week in Minnesota and is expected to miss four weeks.

Second baseman Ryne Sandberg, who broke his hand in the first game of spring training, will rejoin the Chicago Cubs on Friday when they begin a weekend series in Cincinnati. Sandberg is currently on rehabilitation assignment with the Orlando Cubs of the Southern League. . . . A hairline wrist fracture, sustained when he was hit by a John Candelaria pitch in Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh, will keep center fielder Steve Finley out of the Houston Astros’ lineup for at least three weeks. . . . The Kansas City Royals have recalled left-handed pitcher Dennis Rasmussen from his rehabilitation assignment in Omaha and put left-handed reliever Frank DiPino, who has chicken pox, on the 15-day disabled list.
