COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Arizona Rallies with Eight in the Fourth to Beat Titans in Baseball
Arizona scored eight runs in the fourth inning and went on to beat Cal State Fullerton, 11-9, in a nonconference baseball game Friday in Tucson.
Fullerton (30-13) scored two runs in the second, third and fourth innings to open a 6-2 lead. But Arizona (29-20) got home runs from James Motte (his sixth), Robbie Moen (his sixth) and Jason Thompson (his 18th) in its eight-run fourth to take a 10-6 lead. Thompson’s home-run total is an Arizona single-season record.
Dante Powell had four hits, including two triples and a double, for the Titans. Adam Millan had two hits, including his fourth home run, and Tony Banks had a double and a triple. The teams play at 7 tonight and at 1 p.m. Sunday.
In another nonconference baseball game:
Grand Canyon 10, Chapman 5--Abijah Alastra hit a grand slam in the first inning for the Panthers (19-29). Grand Canyon (22-23) scored five in the bottom of the first and three in the second.
