Women in Film
Goldstein writes that the ending of “Indecent Proposal” was changed because Robert Redford’s character didn’t get the girl, that he didn’t want to be “blown off.”
In “The Great Gatsby” (1974) Redford’s Gatsby is not only “blown off” by Mia Farrow’s Daisy but is also blown away by a revengeful husband. And only two mourners at his funeral! No male star vanity there.
