SIMI VALLEY : 2 Days of Free Bus Rides Scheduled

Share

Simi Valley Transit riders can forget the fares May 15 and 16, when the city bus service offers free transportation as part of its annual “Customer Appreciation Days” celebration.

The promotion coincides with the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Trade Fair. Free trips will be available from 5:30 a.m. to 7:53 p.m. on May 15 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 16.

“This is the third year we’ve done this in conjunction with the trade fair,” said Diane Davis-Crompton, the city’s director of environmental services. “It’s a service to the community in terms of getting people to the trade fair and out of their cars.”

Riders can board buses anywhere along route A or B and alight directly in front of the fair on Los Angeles Avenue at Surveyor Avenue. Two buses will depart from the fair each hour for return trips.

The idea for the bus promotion came out of discussions between the city and the chamber three years ago, Davis-Crompton said, and was seen as a good way to promote the chamber’s two-day event and to reward the city’s bus-riding public.
