Mail-In Registration Begins at 3 Colleges

Share

Mail-in registration for summer school classes at Ventura, Oxnard and Moorpark colleges began Monday and will run for several weeks, officials said.

The number of summer classes at Moorpark and Ventura colleges has been reduced this year because of budget cuts, officials said. Moorpark College will offer 170 classes, about 30 fewer than last year. Ventura College will offer about 165, 60 fewer than last year. Oxnard College, will cut from next school year’s fall and spring classes instead, will offer 171 this summer.

Officials at the three campuses said they expect demand for summer classes to increase this year because students are concerned that fees will rise again next school year. Fees now are $10 a unit, but Gov. Pete Wilson has proposed that they be increased to $30 a unit.

Schedules for the three colleges are available at local libraries, post offices and at the campuses.

Moorpark and Ventura colleges finish mail-in registration May 21, and Oxnard’s mail-in registration runs through May 27.

Walk-in registration at Moorpark College is from June 8 to 11 and at Ventura College from June 7 to 9, but in both cases, a permit to register must be secured from the college before registration. Walk-in registration at Oxnard College is June 5 and June 7 through 10.

Summer school at the three campuses begins June 14, and runs about eight weeks.
