Recalling that diamonds can be a woman’s best friend, Cartier added a diamond version to its Ellipse ring series, which debuted last year with rubies, emeralds, sapphires or sans stones. “Worn singly or stacked, they have a sense of classicism and whimsy,” says spokesman Brian Lange. “Their sculptural quality is sensuous. They feel good on the finger.” At $1,000 to $2,400 (except for the half-carat diamond at $7,000), the rings come in yellow, rose and white gold.

Mother’s Little Helper

Most women can only fantasize of Calgon escapes. Who has time to take a long bath? So Origins offers a stress alleviator when life can’t stop. Peace of Mind sensory therapy ($10) soothes the senses with infusions of rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus and basil. “You automatically feel a sense of wholeness and relaxation,” says spokeswoman Cheryl Chrispen. Just massage a drop into temples, forehead, neck or earlobes. No surprise it’s Origins best-selling product. And it’s small enough to fit in a purse.

Second Skin

The modern woman requires a flexible wardrobe--especially pieces as comfortable as her own skin. Rebel Smith offers a soft, brushed silk set in exotic reptile print: sarong skirt ($108), tank blouse ($65) and a solid jacket with print piping ($149). Wear together or mix with other pieces. “It can go from the office to a nightclub with ease,” says Sam Smith, whose Orange County fashion company serves busy women by going to their homes or offices. Another plus: “This will also go right into transition when fall rolls around.”

Queen for a Day

She’s a maid, a nurse, a chauffeur, a magician and a friend, so it seems at the very least she deserves a day of royal treatment. Give mom the pampering of a facial and massage therapy. And for an ultra-care package, consider a workout with a personal trainer. Debbie Trette of Capistrano Beach swears by her visits to Lou Gaudio’s Total Health and Fitness Center in Dana Point. With seven kids, ages 2 to 21, Trette visits a minimum of three times a week to relieve stress, energize and clear her head. “I think you can be a much better mom if you take care of yourself,” she says. The center offers a complete package for Mother’s Day for $90.
