So, What’s Actually Wrong With Dodgers? To the Fans, It’s Claire

Share

Peter O’Malley has been spending too much time listening to his manager and general manager and not enough time watching his team play if he thinks the Dodgers’ lowly status is the result of bad draft luck for the past five years (May 3).

Two years ago with Stan Javier, Chris Gwynn, Jose Vizcaino, Lenny Harris and Mike Sharperson playing and batting over .280, the Dodgers were leading the NL West at the All-Star break. All were benched (with Gwynn, Vizcaino and Javier subsequently discarded but still batting over .280 for the Royals, Cubs and Angels) and the Dodgers became baseball’s worst team.

It’s not your drafting, Peter, it’s your inability to recognize the talent you had that has caused your demise.
