Board to Discuss Trustee Replacement
The Ventura County Board of Education will hold a special meeting Monday to decide how to replace Trustee Robert G. Viles, who resigned this week after pleading no contest to five counts of grand theft and tax fraud in a criminal case unrelated to his position as vice president of the board.
Viles, 58, had been an elected board member since July, 1973. He represented Area 1, which includes parts of Oxnard and Ventura, and had 18 months left in his term.
The board will name a provisional replacement or call a special election in November, Supt. James F. Cowan said.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the board’s conference center, 550 Airport Way, at the Camarillo Airport.
