No Getty Tell-All: Thomas Hoving was known as a Getty basher when he was editor of the now-defunct Connoisseur magazine, but he isn’t out to get the J. Paul Getty Museum just now. New York magazine’s Intelligencer column recently reported that he is planning a Getty tell-all, in the spirit of “Making the Mummies Dance,” his gossip-filled bestseller about his tenure as director of New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, but Hoving denied the report. “That’s just a case of the magazine not bothering to check with me,” Hoving said. He didn’t rule out a Getty book in the future, but no such project is currently in the works, he said.
