Arsenal, on a goal by defender Andy Linighan, defeated Sheffield Wednesday, 2-1, in overtime in the Football Assn. Cup final at Wembley, England.
Arsenal won its fifth FA Cup title and became the first team to win both major English cups in one season, having defeated Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup final last month.
