Perfectly Frank

I want to express my appreciation for Barbara Isenberg’s profile of Frank Langella (“Frank Gets Really Frank,” May 9), although I’m a bit surprised you waited until the last day “Scenes From an Execution” was playing in L.A. Still, it was almost as much a pleasure to see the forum used by someone with his intelligence and articulation as it was to attend the performance.

It’s refreshing for an actor to discuss the motivating forces behind his performances, how the challenges and opportunities change over the course of a career and, particularly, the importance of accepting gracefully the physical changes that accompany it.

I think he is quite right in not being too concerned about the angle of erection at this point in time. Many would be more than satisfied by an evening filled solely with the conversation of a man with his perspective.
