Lily LaCava; TV Script Supervisor
Lily LaCava, two-term president of the local script supervisors union who worked on popular television shows from “The Jack Benny Show” to the current program “Coach,” has died. She was 69.
Miss LaCava died Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of heart failure after suffering from cancer.
She also served as a negotiator for the union, Local 871 of IATSE, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and wrote its newsletter.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Miss LaCava moved to Hollywood in the late 1940s to become a singer but switched to television production for CBS.
She worked on “The George Gobel Show,” “The Red Skelton Show,” and “My Favorite Husband,” among others.
Later she served as script supervisor on the popular series “Gilligan’s Island” and “Bob Newhart,” and on feature films including “Star Trek III” and “Star Trek IV.”
She is survived by a sister, Mary Mustacchio, of North Hollywood.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 10800 Moorpark St., North Hollywood.
