CHINATOWN : English, Math Help at Computer Center
The Intex Corp. Computer Center at the Chinatown Library, 840 Yale St., now offers software programs to help students improve English and math skills.
Elementary school students can use programs such as “Number Munchers,” “Word Munchers,” “Math Wizard” and “Math Blaster Mystery” on any of the center’s 15 IBM-compatible computers. Adults and children can use the language skills software, such as “Starting with Phonics Plus” and “Winning with Phonics Plus,” to learn English.
Programs to help older students prepare for the GRE, SAT and ACT high school and college-level tests are also available.
The Friends of the Chinatown Library purchased the software with donations from Intex Corp. and the John Lee Memorial Fund. The computer center is open 1 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Fridays. A Los Angeles Public Library card is needed.
