Ventura County National Bancorp said Zella Rushing, a former director of the bank, will rejoin the company’s board, filling the vacancy left by the abrupt resignation in May of its longtime chief executive, William E. McAleer.
Rushing was a founding director of the Oxnard-based company’s main subsidiary, Ventura County National Bank, and served as chairman of the board of the company from its inception in 1984 until her retirement in March, 1992. Rushing is chairman of the board of H & H Oil Tool Co., a Santa Paula firm that rents oil-drilling equipment, and she is a board member of the California Chamber of Commerce.
McAleer, 54, resigned last month after a critical review by federal regulators and a restatement of earnings that reported the company lost $1.6 million because of an addition of $3.3 million in loan-loss reserves.
