Cable Television: Sports network ESPN, hoping to appeal to the twentysomething generation, plans in November to launch a second network for fans 18 to 34, ESPN President Steve Bornstein announced. The network, to be called ESPN2, will feature hockey, volleyball, college basketball and such less traditional sports as sky surfing and snowboarding. Also planned are sports game shows, workout programs and shows on bodybuilding. ESPN plans to offer a number of incentives for subscribers to carry the channel, including guaranteed pricing and performance discounts. Patrick McDonough, who worked on NBC’s 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics telecasts, has been hired to design the look of the channel.
