Four people were wounded, two seriously, in shootings in Oxnard and near Santa Paula on Sunday night, authorities said Monday.

In the first incident, two San Fernando men were shot about 9:40 p.m. while walking through the courtyard of an apartment complex on Campbell Way, in south Oxnard.

The victims, Dion Walker and Glen Fennell, both 19, were in serious condition Monday at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.

Police have no one in custody and have been unable to interview the victims because of their injuries, police spokesman David Keith said.

“We do not believe it was a drive-by because no one heard a car squealing away,” Keith said. “We believe the persons doing the shooting were in and around that complex.”

The second incident occurred 10 minutes later, about 9:50 p.m., when a security guard allegedly shot two 15-year-old boys at a wrecking yard at 910 Mission Rock Road near Santa Paula.

The youths and 22-year-old Kasey Daugherty, all from Santa Paula, were apparently trespassing on the property when they had a confrontation with the guard, Charles L. Arthur Jr., 46, of Ventura, sheriff’s Lt. Kathy Kemp said.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Kelly Fadler said Arthur fired at least four shots from what Fadler described as an old military rifle. After the boys were hit, Arthur administered first aid until an ambulance arrived.

Kemp said detectives were told conflicting stories about what happened. Arthur “says he was confronted by the trio and the trio is saying they were confronted by Arthur,” she said.

Arthur was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and was being held at County Jail on $5,000 bail. Charges may be filed later against the juveniles, whose names were not released, Kemp said. Both youths remained in hospitals Monday. One was in fair condition at Ventura County Medical Center; the other was in good condition at Santa Paula Memorial Hospital.
