MALIBU : 2 Convicted in Murder of Ex-Councilwoman’s Son

Two men face life prison terms without the possibility of parole when they are sentenced June 25 for slaying the 17-year-old son of a former Malibu city councilwoman.

Ian Duncan, 20, and Jude DeJesus, 26, told a Beverly Hills jury that they fired in self-defense when the victim, Justin Zeitsoff, pulled a gun on them. But Deputy Dist. Atty. Richard Stone argued that the two men meant to kill Zeitsoff when they lured him to Duncan’s home in Van Nuys on Feb. 19, 1992.

Duncan, who hired DeJesus, was motivated by revenge for an illegal gun deal that went bad, Stone said. Zeitsoff’s body was found two days later in the trunk of his luxury automobile, which had been parked outside the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.

Both defendants were found guilty of murder with the special circumstances of financial gain and lying in wait. Duncan was found guilty on a separate count of robbery-murder. Zeitsoff was the son of former Malibu Councilwoman Missy Zeitsoff.
