Orchestra Sets Plans for Fall Concert Series

The Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra will begin its eighth season of concerts starting in October with performances at 14 churches in Santa Monica and Pasadena.

Music by J.S. Bach, Pachelbel and Telemann make up the opening agenda, to be performed Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church of Santa Monica and Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. in Holliston United Methodist Church in Pasadena. Soloists will be violinists Gregory Maldonado (music director of the ensemble) and Jolianne von Einem, flutist Kim Pineda and harpsichordist Edward Murray.

Four California singers--Mary Rawcliffe, Virginia Sublett, Temmo Korisheli and Mel Whitehead--will be featured in the Monteverdi concert to be performed at the same locations, Nov. 27 and 28. Music for the Christmas season by Charpentier, Handel and Werner will be performed by the ensemble Dec. 17 and 19.

Works by Mozart, Boccherini and J.C. Bach make up “A Mozart Portrait,” to be given Jan. 21 and 23.

Clarinetist Robert Adelson appears with the ensemble March 4 and 6. Music by J.S. Bach takes up the entire program April 22 and 24.

Closing the season, the orchestra will play a Handel program in Santa Monica and Pasadena, May 13 at 8 p.m. and May 15 at 4 p.m., respectively.
