NORTHRIDGE : Sign-Wearing Woman Gets What She Wants

Share

A Northridge woman who went to unusual lengths to find legal help for her pending divorce got what she wanted Thursday.

In a divorce agreement signed Thursday with her ex-husband, Carol Price got to keep her house and car, and received more than adequate support for her teen-age daughter.

After donning a sign that read “Will Work for Legal Assistance” outside Van Nuys Superior Court two weeks ago, Price attracted the attention of a Northridge lawyer who helped her with the settlement.

“It was pretty creative,” said attorney Richard Early, who tracked down the 45-year-old woman after reading about her efforts.

Early said he agreed to negotiate the settlement for “virtually nothing.”

Price, who had not worked for the past nine years and had no money to pay for an attorney, said she got more than she ever bargained for.

“I’m just thrilled,” Price said. “I’m able to see ahead to the future and not have to worry about being able to make ends meet.”
