RIDING PREGNANT: Knott’s Berry Farm is slashing some of its summer prices (D6), but there’s one Knott’s discount you may not know about. Knott’s has a special $15.95 price for expectant mothers--even cheaper than for seniors. How pregnant do you have to be? “Obviously, we’re not going to challenge you if you say you’re pregnant,” says a spokesman. . . . The same, he says, for locals, who will get the new discounts by telling their ZIP code. Knott’s figures few out-of-towners will bother to learn local ZIP codes for a bargain.

THE LONG RUN: Winning the 3,000-mile, 64-day Trans-America Footrace last year made David Warady of Huntington Beach a cult hero among distance runners, even if it hasn’t paid off in fortune. The 36-year-old computer programmer shrugs: “But how many people get the chance to win a historic race like that?” . . . Trans-Am II starts at 5 a.m. Saturday where the Santa Ana River Jetty meets the ocean in Huntington Beach (C1). In the wake of an injury, Warady won’t compete but will be there to offer moral support for the 14 entrants.

CREAN RISES: Things are cooking these days for the Santa Ana Heights-based “At Home on the Range” cable-access show. Local millionaire John Crean and his kitchen helper, Barbara Venezia--also his producer--have been made regulars on the ABC-TV “Home” show, with a cooking segment every Wednesday. Also, they’ve taped a piece for the new Connie Chung show on CBS, “Eye to Eye.” . . . “We’re getting calls and faxes from all over the world,” Venezia says. “We’re so excited.”

PRICE OF FAME: Local actor Austin O’Brien, featured in “Last Action Hero,” and his mother/manager Valerie O’Brien got the star treatment Tuesday when they arrived in New York. . . . But their limo broke down on the Queensboro Bridge, stranding them for almost an hour in the afternoon heat while traffic backed up behind them. “The hazards of travel,” Valerie O’Brien offers philosophically.
