Three Valley high school seniors will attend U.S. military academies in July, according to a spokeswoman for Rep. Anthony C. Beilenson (D-Woodland Hills).
All three were nominated by the congressman and met demanding physical and academic examinations in order to be accepted.
Taft High School student Ian Fairchild and Calabasas High School student Aaron Pepkowitz will attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado. Rose Lopez, a senior at Taft High School, will attend the West Point Military Academy in New York.
Ian, 17, of Tarzana, said he was very proud when he learned of his acceptance. “I’ve wanted to be an Air Force pilot since I was 6,” he said. “I think I have what it takes.”
Rose, 17, of Woodland Hills, was accepted to West Point through an early-decision program last December. She said she plans to major in political science.
