BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Gruber May Go on Disabled List
Third baseman Kelly Gruber’s neck and shoulder were examined by Dr. Lewis Yocum, who recommended that Gruber be put on the disabled list. There was no word of a move, however, and there probably won’t be until second baseman Damion Easley, already on the disabled list with shin splints, is examined by Yocum this weekend.
“We won’t rush him,” Manager Buck Rodgers said. “If Easley doesn’t pass all the tests on the table and on the field, then we’ll make a move.”

Mike Butcher threw 3 2/3 shutout innings, exactly what Rodgers had been hoping to see from the right-hander. Butcher, called up from Vancouver last week, gave up one hit and a walk while striking out three.
