A second Oxnard man wanted in connection with a shooting outside a Port Hueneme party was arrested Thursday in Sacramento, a day after police learned that he had fled his Oxnard residence, authorities said.

Leonardo Cudal, 18, was arrested after a short foot chase when Sacramento sheriff’s deputies approached him at one of three Sacramento residences where police believed Cudal was staying, said Port Hueneme Police Sgt. Fernando Estrella.

Cudal is one of three men suspected of participating in the June 12 shooting of two men outside a Port Hueneme residence. David Rubio, 18, and Cruz Espinoza, 24, were each shot once while standing outside the 7th Street party. Both survived.

On Wednesday, Ventura, Oxnard and Port Hueneme police served arrest warrants at the Oxnard area residences of the three suspects. They arrested Wendell Raquedan, 18, on suspicion of attempted murder, but did not locate Cudal or a third suspect, Matthew Bolo, 18.

Evidence found at Cudal’s residence suggested he had already fled to the Sacramento area, Estrella said. Cudal was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Estrella said. Port Hueneme police returned Cudal to Port Hueneme later in the day.
