Two transients were arrested by Simi Valley police on suspicion of burglary after they stole $3,900 worth of cash and property from a Cochran Street residence, authorities reported.

Oscar Morales, 29, and Robert Sundgren, 31, were arrested Saturday after officers spotted them in a vehicle on California 118 at Tapo Canyon Road, police said.

Morales, who suffered cuts on his arms after attempting to flee, was apprehended after a short chase, but Sundgren was found several hours later hiding in bushes along Homewood Avenue, police said. Morales was treated at Simi Valley Hospital for his injuries and later released to police.

The two men are suspected of burglarizing a home in the 1700 block of Cochran Street about 3 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded minutes after a neighbor alerted authorities to the possible burglary, police said.

The property, including a television, jewelry, stereo equipment and cash, was recovered inside the van. Both men were booked at Ventura County Jail.
