A Covina gas station and mini-mart attendant was shot to death Monday night and police were looking for three or four men seen driving away from the area.

The victim, a 28-year-old Glendora man, was not identified pending notification of his family. He was shot in the upper torso and pronounced dead at the scene.

A dark-colored compact pickup truck occupied by three or four men was seen nearby the Thrifty gas station on the 1100 block of North Grand Avenue shortly before the shooting, sheriff’s spokesman Ron Weber said.

Witnesses said two of the men entered the mini-mart shortly after midnight. Three shots were heard coming from inside, then the men walked back to the truck and drove away.

It is unclear whether anything was stolen, and police have not determined a motive for the shooting.
