New Rule on Parade Vendors : Pasadena
Vendors who obtain special business licenses will be allowed to sell merchandise at the Tournament of Roses Parade, the City Council decided last week.
Until now, the Tournament of Roses has had exclusive right to sell or subcontract all goods and merchandise within two blocks of the Rose Parade route.
Tournament of Roses officials agreed to give up that right in response to objections by City Council members and residents. However, tournament officials retain the right to approve use of the Rose Parade logo and name.
The city is projected to make about $43,000 a year from fees for the special vendor permits.
Tournament of Roses spokesman William Flinn was unavailable for comment.
