A Simi Valley man who allegedly stabbed his roommate was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder early Monday, police said.

Godofredo Panameno, 22, was arrested shortly after officers arrived at a house in the 4200 block of Lou Drive, where the stabbing allegedly took place, police said.

Jenri Paul Urbina, 26, was listed in satisfactory condition late Monday afternoon at Simi Valley Hospital, a spokeswoman said.

An argument between the two men apparently escalated into a physical fight that led to the stabbing, police said. Officers found Urbina lying face down in a pool of blood on an outdoor patio when they arrived at 12:10 a.m., police said.

Panameno ran away before police arrived, but he returned minutes later, police said. An officer spotted Panameno, who was caught as he tried to get away on his bicycle, police said.

Police said they do not yet know what caused the argument.
