Countywide : Broker Is Named to Planning Panel
Huntington Beach real estate broker Shirley Commons Long was named Tuesday to fill a vacancy on the Orange County Planning Commission.
The appointment of Long, nominated by Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Harriett M. Wieder, was unanimously approved by the full board at its weekly meeting.
Long fills the vacancy created when Haydee Tillotson resigned from the five-member panel June 3, only three months after her appointment. Tillotson, also of Huntington Beach, indicated her intention to run for the 2nd District seat when Wieder retires in January, 1995.
“Shirley possesses many years of experience and expertise on housing and growth management-related issues which will make her an outstanding member of the Planning Commission,” Wieder said in a written statement.
Long is a former chairwoman of the Orange County Community Housing Corp. and a member of the Housing Affordability Task Force for the city of Huntington Beach.
