Southeast Area : Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Program
Los Angeles County residents may dispose of hazardous household waste free of charge at three area colleges.
Automotive batteries, used motor oil, coolant, detergents containing acids or lye, pesticides, paint and other household chemicals will be accepted in the program sponsored by Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles.
The waste will be collected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 24 at East Los Angeles College at Bleakwood Avenue and Floral Drive in Monterey Park; Aug. 7 at Cerritos College, 11110 E. Alondra Blvd. in Norwalk; and Aug. 14 at Rio Hondo College, 3600 Workman Mill Road (Parking Lot A) in Whittier.
Residents will be limited to five gallons or 50 pounds of waste per vehicle.
It is illegal to dump hazardous waste in the trash, sewers or storm drains.
