Boseman Wants to Continue Football Career at USC

Stais Boseman said Saturday’s Shrine game will not be his last in a football uniform.

The former Morningside High athlete, who is bound for USC on a basketball scholarship, won’t be able to play football until 1994. NCAA rules prohibit freshmen from playing a sport other than the one they signed for.

“I’ve talked to (USC football Coach John) Robinson and he said he is open to all options,” Boseman said.

Boseman was the Ocean League most valuable player in football and the State Division III player of the year in basketball. He doesn’t want to limit his athletic career to one sport.

“I’ve played both sports all my life,” he said. “That’s like choosing between your mother and your daddy.”

Boseman will play receiver and defensive back in Saturday’s game.
