City Has Always Had Right to Sue Taggers
* As I read the Valley Edition, I couldn’t help but chuckle at the article “New Law Allows City to Sue Taggers” (June 30). Since when hasn’t the city of Los Angeles been able to sue people who damage city property? It is also well known that the city attorney represents the city in such actions. Civil Code 1714.1 makes a parent absolutely liable up to $10,000 for each incident, so why hasn’t the city been suing the parents to recover damages to city property for their kids’ vandalism?
