* * * Shelby Lynne, “Temptation,” Morgan Creek. With her fourth album, Lynne at last finds a musical setting equal to her Rio Grande-sized voice: big-band Western swing. She makes a great chanteuse, Texas Playboys-style. Who knows whether it’ll click commercially, but with a batch of largely first-rate songs, it sure is a refreshing break from country business as usual.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor), two stars (fair), three stars (good) and four stars (excellent).
