OXNARD : Car Driven by Boy, 12, Hits, Injures 6-Year-Old

A 12-year-old Oxnard boy whose father allowed him to park the family car Saturday afternoon drove the vehicle into an alley and hit a 6-year-old boy, police said.

The victim, Anthony Rodriguez, also of Oxnard, suffered a broken leg and bruised liver, authorities said. He was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center where he was in serious condition late Saturday.

The driver, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, did not see the child in the alley and immediately called for help when he realized what he had done, police said.

The boy was cited for driving without a license and reckless driving, according to authorities. His father was cited for allowing a minor to drive, police said.
