VENTURA : Arson Suspected in Powerboat Fire
Ventura fire officials suspect arson in a late-night fire that destroyed a $20,000 powerboat and caused $5,000 in damage to the garage where it was stored.
Firefighters were called to a house in the 1600 block of Santa Ynez Street about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, and it took them about 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
The fire was limited to the garage and no injuries were reported.
Officials said Sunday they do not know who reported the fire, and said they had been unable to locate the property owners. It was not known how the fire started, although officials said they believe it was deliberately set. Officials said the case is under investigation.
