Music: Someday, Polygram and Motown will be together . . . probably as early as today. Polygram Chief Executive Alain Levy is expected to announce the acquisition of the legendary black music company for more than $300 million. Founded in Detroit by Berry Gordy Jr., the company, which grew with the success of such artists as The Supremes and Stevie Wonder, was bought in 1988 for $61 million by the Boston Ventures investment firm and MCA Inc., which has divested its stake. Polygram, controlled by the Dutch electronics giant Philips, has close ties to Motown, having distributed the label’s music since 1991. Motown is expected to remain in Los Angeles under President Jheryl Busby.
