SANTA ANA : Homicide Weighed After Car Kills Man
An unidentified man was run down by a car and killed early Monday in what police are investigating as a murder.
The incident occurred during activity police suspect was a drug sale in the 1500 block of North Durant Street at 3:37 a.m., police Lt. Earl Porter said.
The victim was standing in the street talking to a woman seated in an older model, silver or gray Volvo when he suddenly yelled to some friends to hit the car, Porter said.
When several people started throwing “rocks and other objects” at the Volvo, the woman sped off, made a U-turn and hit the victim, Porter said. She was identified as white, 20 to 25 years old with long, dark hair. She remained at large.
The victim, who police say is between 20 and 30 years old, was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
