OJAI VALLEY : Authorities Seize 264 Marijuana Plants

Share

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies and U. S. Forest Service agents on Wednesday seized 264 marijuana plants that were being grown in a remote area of the upper Ojai Valley.

Members of the county’s search-and-rescue team spotted a water pump during a flyover of the area two weeks ago, officials said. Narcotics detectives then searched the area and located the plants about five miles east of the intersection of California 150 and Santa Paula Canyon Road, investigators said.

Officials said the growers had rigged the pump to fill a plastic pool near the garden, and that the plants were then watered by hand. The grower also had built a camp and bunker where supplies and tools were stored.
